The development trend of the transformer industry

Against the backdrop of the "dual carbon" goals, the construction of new power systems, and large-scale grid integration of new energy, traditional high energy consuming and extensive transformers are gradually being phased out, and the industry is presenting three core development trends:
1. Efficient energy conservation and loss reduction have become essential needs: The national power energy-saving standards continue to upgrade, and old transformers with high loss S11 and below are gradually being phased out of the market. Ultra low loss energy-saving transformers such as S20 and S22 have become mainstream. The new transformer significantly reduces no-load and load losses by optimizing the core material, winding structure, and process design, adapting to the core requirements of energy conservation, consumption reduction, and low-carbon operation of the power grid. It is widely used in the renovation projects of new and old power grids.
2. Intelligent digitization to achieve intelligent operation and maintenance: The traditional manual inspection mode is gradually being replaced by intelligent monitoring. Intelligent transformers are equipped with temperature sensors, vibration sensors, oil quality monitoring modules, and data transmission terminals, which can collect real-time operating data, automatically warn of faults, and remotely monitor equipment status. By combining big data and Internet of Things technology, we can achieve visualization of device status, intelligent fault prediction, and refined operation and maintenance management, significantly reducing manual operation and maintenance costs and improving the stability of power grid supply.
3. Green and safe, adaptable to diverse new scenarios: oil-free, fireproof, explosion-proof, and low pollution have become the core upgrade directions of equipment. The penetration rate of green equipment such as dry-type transformers and vegetable oil transformers continues to increase, perfectly adapting to high-end enclosed scenarios such as data centers, new energy power stations, and urban underground substations. At the same time, for the scenario of wind power and photovoltaic distributed generation grid connection, dedicated special transformers are iteratively upgraded to have the characteristics of anti harmonic, strong voltage regulation ability, and adaptability to fluctuating power generation, adapting to the diverse power supply needs of new power systems.
4. Miniaturization and integration upgrade: With scarce urban land resources and intensive development of power construction, compact and integrated box type transformers have become the mainstream of urban distribution network construction. By integrating transformers, switchgear, and protection devices, they occupy a small area, are easy to install, and have simple operation and maintenance. They are suitable for scenarios such as the renovation of old urban communities, municipal power facilities, and the construction of industrial and commercial parks.
